About Norman Window Fashions
The premium brand built for both coastal and inland Panhandle.
Norman Window Fashions was founded in 1976 and has grown into one of the two largest plantation shutter manufacturers globally, alongside Hunter Douglas. For the Florida Panhandle specifically, Norman gives us two strong product paths: Woodlux composite for coastal moisture environments where Hunter Douglas Palm Beach is the budget step too far, and Woodlore basswood for inland builds in Pace, Pensacola East Hill, Daphne, and Fairhope where stained real wood is part of the architectural language. The brand consistently delivers comparable build quality to Hunter Douglas at a 5 to 18 percent cost advantage depending on the specific product line.
We have been an authorized Norman dealer on the Panhandle since 1996. The relationship gives us direct factory pricing, priority manufacturing slots during pre-hurricane-season demand spikes, and the ability to spec custom-stain matches that competitors cannot turn around as quickly. Norman is the brand we lean on when an inland Panhandle homeowner has a specific stain reference (existing built-ins, hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets) that needs to match precisely on the shutter panels. For beachfront and gulf-front installs, we steer composite first.
This page covers the Norman product lines we install regularly on the Panhandle, where Norman is the right call versus where Hunter Douglas coastal-spec lines fit better, and the warranty terms in plain language.

What the Norman warranty actually covers.
Lifetime on Woodlux composite
Norman Woodlux composite shutters carry a lifetime limited warranty against material defects, warping, fade, and peel in any humidity environment. The warranty applies on coastal Panhandle beachfront installs the same as it applies on inland builds. Lifetime means the lifetime of the original purchaser at the original install address.
Woodlore basswood warranty
Woodlore hardwood shutters carry a lifetime panel warranty against material failure plus a 25-year fade warranty on stained finishes. Painted finishes carry a lifetime warranty against peeling and 25-year against yellowing. For inland Panhandle installs where moisture is normal interior, Woodlore performs the same as it does in any premium market.
SmartTilt and SmartDraw warranty
SmartDraw motors carry a 7-year warranty. SmartTilt motors carry a 5-year warranty. SmartHub bridges and remotes carry a 3-year warranty. Salt-air does not void the motor warranty, though we recommend interior placement away from direct salt-mist exposure for the housing longevity.
Our coastal workmanship warranty
On top of the Norman product warranty, we add our own lifetime workmanship guarantee. For coastal installs that includes hinge re-lubrication at year 10, anchor inspection at year 15, and any adjustment needed if the trim settles or the panel goes out of square. The warranty covers the original purchaser at the original install address.

Questions Panhandle homeowners ask about Norman
The honest answers.
How does Norman Woodlux compare to Hunter Douglas Palm Beach for coastal installs?
Hunter Douglas Palm Beach Polysatin is the reference coastal-moisture shutter on the Panhandle with the longest track record. Norman Woodlux is the competent alternative, typically pricing 5 to 12 percent below comparable Palm Beach specifications with similar lifetime warranty terms against warp, fade, and peel in moisture environments. For coastal projects where the budget calls for a small step below Palm Beach without compromising moisture performance, Woodlux is the right call.
Should I pick Norman Woodlore basswood for a beachfront install?
Generally not for true beachfront exposures. Woodlore basswood is premium real wood with a 25-year fade warranty on stains, but real wood does not handle direct salt-mist exposure as well as composite. For beachfront installs in Destin Holiday Isle, Pensacola Beach, and Panama City Beach, we spec Woodlux composite or Hunter Douglas Palm Beach. Woodlore is excellent for inland Panhandle, Pace, Pensacola East Hill, and Daphne installs where moisture is normal interior.
What is the Norman warranty on coastal Florida installs?
Norman Woodlux composite shutters carry a lifetime limited warranty against warp, fade, and peel in moisture environments. Woodlore basswood carries a lifetime panel warranty plus a 25-year fade warranty on stained finishes. SmartTilt and SmartDraw motorization carry 5 to 7 year warranties on the motors. We register every install at completion and add our own lifetime workmanship warranty on top.
What is the Norman lead time on the Panhandle during hurricane season?
Standard Norman lead time on the Panhandle is 4 to 6 weeks. During hurricane season (June through November), demand spikes for moisture-rated shutter products can push lead times to 7 to 8 weeks. Pre-season (April, May) orders are the cleanest. Custom-stained Woodlore basswood with shaped panels can run 8 to 10 weeks regardless of season because of the custom-finishing process.
