Navarre Beach, across the bridge on Santa Rosa Island, is condo and beachfront single-family. Each side has its own window treatment math, and we have measured both since 1996.
Material picks itself by exposure. Poly plantation shutters for any opening within a mile of the Gulf or the sound. Basswood plantation shutters and real-wood blinds are only safe inland and in low-humidity rooms. Faux wood blinds in 2 inch slats cover most secondary rooms. Poly first on the coastal side
Salt mist on Navarre Beach and any home within a mile of Santa Rosa Sound reaches every window. Polysatin and Woodlore Plus plantation shutters are dimensionally stable and the color is integral. We do not bid basswood on a coastal-side Navarre opening unless the homeowner specifically requests it and understands the trade-off.
Mildew-resistant roller fabrics
Navarre baths and laundry rooms need MR-coated roller shade fabrics. Hunter Douglas Designer Screen and the Graber MR roller line both carry the right coating. Standard untreated polyester rollers grow mildew on the bottom rail within a year in a beachfront bath.
