The window treatment shop the FWB military community uses for PCS turns.
Fort Walton Beach is a different mix than Destin. Cinco Bayou, Ocean City, and Wright are the core inland neighborhoods, with the Okaloosa Island condo wall on the Gulf side across the Brooks Bridge. The defining feature, though, is the military market. Eglin Air Force Base is the largest military installation in the Air Force by land area and sits east of Cinco Bayou. Hurlburt Field is west. PCS relocations move hundreds of families through the area every spring, and a six-week install window from contract signing to keys-in-hand is a real constraint. We have built our FWB schedule around that.
The build stock is a 1970s-through-2000s mix of brick ranch and two-story traditional, with newer infill in Ocean City and along the Hollywood Boulevard corridor. Most homes have a primary bedroom on the back of the house, a kitchen with a slider out to a covered porch, and two or three secondary bedrooms. The plantation shutter, faux wood blind, and roller shade math is consistent: poly for any coastal or bayou-front opening, basswood and real wood inland, MR roller fabrics for baths. We carry full Hunter Douglas, Norman, and Graber lines.
For Okaloosa Island condo owners, motorization on every roller shade is the right move. You can set a vacation schedule before you fly home. Standard lead times are 2 to 4 weeks for blinds, 4 to 6 weeks for plantation shutters. Schedule the in-home measure.

Poly on the Okaloosa Island side
Okaloosa Island condos at El Matador, Surf Dweller, Seaspray, and the Tower 21 wall need poly plantation shutters and MR roller fabrics. Salt mist on Santa Rosa Island reaches every window. We will not bid basswood on an Island unit.
Cinco Bayou waterfront treatment
Cinco Bayou waterfront homes get the same humidity treatment as Gulf-front. The protected inlet still carries year-round 70+ percent humidity. Poly shutters and MR rollers. Inland Cinco Bayou is fine with faux wood and basswood.
Motorized for vacation rentals and primary bedrooms
Lutron RA3 hubs run vacation schedules for Okaloosa Island rental units; the unit looks lived-in even when empty. For primary bedrooms with east-facing sliders, a Lutron RF motor rises automatically on your sleep schedule. We retrofit existing roller shades when feasible.
Single-day install for most homes
A FWB ranch with 12 to 16 openings is a single-day install with a two-person crew once material is in our warehouse. Bigger custom plantation shutter installs are sometimes two visits.
