Niceville sits at the north end of Choctawhatchee Bay, with Eglin AFB to the north and the Mid-Bay Bridge connecting to Destin to the south. The defining residential feature is Bluewater Bay, the planned golf-and-waterfront community that fills most of the southern half of the city. Rocky Bayou, the waterway on the east side, gives the rest of Niceville its bay-front character. Swift Creek extends inland with newer subdivisions.
