The project
East Hill, Pensacola.
An East Hill bungalow great room with nine windows on a south-facing two-story wall. The previous owner had run a patchwork of mini-blinds and pinch-pleat drapes that did not match between upper and lower openings. We replaced the lot with basswood plantation shutters in 4.5 inch louvers across all nine openings, with a hidden tilt rod across the entire wall.

Templated to each opening's actual dimensions, accounting for the 1920s framing.
4.5 inch louvers, hidden tilt rod
Wider louver suits the room's scale; hidden tilt rod keeps the long sightline uninterrupted.
Ivory stain, satin finish
Matched to the existing trim; satin finish hides the morning dust the south-facing wall collects.
